Nicholas Edward Williams is a multi-instrumentalist, storyteller and musicologist who has opened for Taj Mahal, The Wood Brothers, CAAMP, Dom Flemons, Ballroom Thieves, John Craigie, John Paul White and several others. In 2017, he was passed the torch of music preservation by his mentor Joan Crane, who was mentored by Andy Cohen, once a lead boy and student of Reverend Gary Davis. Ever since, he has dedicated his career to preserving the musician, the songs and the styles that have laid the fabric of American music. Nicholas is front man of the roots group The New Quintet (Chattanooga, TN) as well as the old time mountain trio Pickers Anonymous (WNC), and is the producer and host of the roots music history podcast American Songcatcher, which has syndicated with partner station WNCW for the last four years. His newest work, and eleventh studio album, titled "Rags, Folk and Blues, Oh My!" released on February 15th via EarthTone Records. Nicholas is also the Founder and Executive Director of ReString Appalachia, a 501(c)3 nonprofit dedicated to giving quality instruments back to people who lose them from natural disasters.
